I love me some fruit bread too and when I was in Japan my mum used to send me hot cross buns from NZ as they were unavailable and I didn’t have an oven but maybe this year I’ll make my own, not sure if they have them here in Austria.
I liked your “About” page, bravo for just doing it and finding a way to do so with a little less pressure.

ohh, this sounds like it could make a beautiful Sunday breakfast. I like the whole wheat in it, I can image that adds a little depth to the flavors.

I’ve had hot cross buns on the brain since mid February when I spied them at our local chain bakery. I’ve been wanting to make my own at home and these seem perfect, since they incorporate whole wheat. Thanks so much for sharing!

the cross buns look awesome. i’m always intimated to make bread. sometimes i just wondered if my jar of yeast was out of dated that it didnt make good good bread like yours.

Mary – bread baking is actually really easy, once you find a good recipe! While kneading can be a bit of a chore, I actually enjoy getting a bit of a work out

I have read recipes that do it both ways, slashing the bread directly before the oven, and some leaving it for a little while. This is the way it was in the recipe I was using, but it could be better with a last minute cut! Thanks for the link your recipe does indeed look good
