Hi Bob, this is a pretty classic Scottish dish, it's a good start to the gentle easy into haggis! I have some other great scottish recipes you should try. Cockaleekie soup would make a great starter, Neeps and Tatties would be a great side along side this pie and to finish you could try my Cranachan Ice Cream.

Hope you like the recipe :)

We went to the Scottish Games the other day and had Haggis & Meat Pies and have been looking for something to make for our non scottish friends to start them on their way to eating Scottish food.

This will be a perfect introduction.

Looks yummy, I've made this a few times for me and the kids though my oldest (5) eats only the mince and the youngest (4) only eats the pastry.

My mum & her mum used tomato puree rather than Worcester sauce, will give it a try and see what sort of difference it makes. Great idea to part cook the bottom layer of pastry, I don't remember my mum ever doing that.

Along the theme of "less hovering over the stove" (I came via the Easy Minced Beef Pie entry), I often serve Mince Tart with Cous Cous (usually lemon flavour as I like the contrast) as its really quick and easy.

BTW I grew up in Northern Ireland and we called this a Mince Tart, yes handily designed to be confused with the Minced/Mince Tart you get at Xmas time.

OMG, that looks completely gorgeous and absolutely perfect for one of those "don't want anything fancy, want something my Mum used to make" dinners. So simple, too! I'll have to have a go at this - maybe next week. :)
